Karen Sheila Gillan (born 28 November 1987) is a Scottish actress who plays the role of Amy Pond in the long-running BBC science fiction series Doctor Who.
Karen was born in Inverness, a city in the northern highlands of Scotland. She plays the role of Amy with her Scottish accent intact.
She studied acting at Telford College in Edinburgh and later moved to London where she enrolled in the Italia Conti Academy of Theater.
Karen has appeared in a small role on Dr. Who previously. In the episode "The Fires of Pompeii" she was cast as a soothsayer.
